Local SEO in Mallorca: show up when people search nearby

Local SEO is the work of ranking for searches with geographic intent — 'physiotherapist in Palma', 'renovations in Manacor', 'restaurant near me' — and inside Google's map results. At Slai we apply it to small businesses, shops and professionals in Mallorca that depend on island customers or on visitors already here.

Unlike general SEO, local SEO combines three fronts: your Google Business Profile, the service and area pages on your website, and external signals — reviews, directories and local mentions — that confirm to Google where you are and what you do.

The problem: people search, but find someone else

Most local businesses in Mallorca already receive searches from people ready to buy today, in their area. The issue is not demand, it is visibility. If your profile is incomplete, your site does not state where you work, or you have no recent reviews, Google shows a competitor instead.

That invisibility never appears in a report: it is simply calls that never arrive. Local SEO fixes exactly that, and the effect compounds — every improvement keeps working when you are not paying for ads.

What our local SEO work includes

    • Local visibility audit: how you currently appear by service and by municipality.
    • Google Business Profile optimisation: categories, services, attributes, areas, hours, photos and posts.
    • Local keyword research, including English and German variants where relevant.
    • Website architecture by service and area, with no duplicate or empty pages.
    • Useful local content: service pages, genuine FAQs and supporting articles.
    • Technical SEO: speed, indexing, canonicals, es/en hreflang and LocalBusiness structured data.
    • Structured data and consistent NAP (name, address, phone) across site, profile and directories.
    • Review strategy: how to request reviews systematically and reply to them.
    • Internal linking towards the pages that generate enquiries.
    • Measurement in Google Search Console, Google Analytics and Business Profile insights.

    How we measure success

We do not track rankings in isolation. We look at calls and direction requests from the Business Profile, form submissions, phone clicks, impressions and clicks per query in Search Console, and progress by municipality.

Every month we review which queries are gaining ground, which pages convert and what is missing. If an action does not move enquiries, we change it.

    How we work

    • 1. Diagnosis: current visibility, local competitors and technical state of the site.
    • 2. Plan: priorities by impact and effort, with target keywords and areas.
    • 3. Execution: profile, website, content and technical fixes.
    • 4. Continuous review: monthly measurement, adjustments and new content.

Local SEO in Mallorca: frequently asked questions

How long does local SEO take to work?

Google Business Profile improvements are often visible within weeks, especially in map visibility. Stable organic rankings depend on how competitive your sector is and usually take several months of continuous work. Any agency guaranteeing a number one position by a fixed date is promising something it does not control.

Does local SEO work if my customers are tourists or expats?

Yes. A large share of local searches in Mallorca happen in English or German from the destination itself. That is why we build sites in Spanish and English with correct hreflang and adapt the Google profile and keywords to those languages when the business needs it.

    Local SEO or Google Ads?

Google Ads gives immediate visibility and is the fast way to validate demand; local SEO is slower but stops depending on daily spend. For most small businesses the efficient route is starting with Ads on the most profitable services while local SEO is built in parallel.

Do I need a new website for local SEO?

Not always. If your site loads reasonably well and can be edited, we work with it. We only recommend rebuilding when it limits performance, indexing or conversion — and we explain the technical reasons.

Want to know how you appear locally today?

We run a no-obligation local visibility review: where you stand on the map, what your customers search for and what to fix first.
